在英國南安普敦大學安裝Nanonics' Hydra and Optometronic 4000

Nanonics recently has supplied two MultiView4000TM MultiProbe SPM-NSOM systems to theUniversity of Southampton for diverse applications.  Onesystem focuses on the exploration and understanding of living cellswhile the other is targeted to research optoelectronic devices.

Professor Pavlos  Lagoudakis of School of Physicsand Astronomy acquired theHydraTM MultiprobeBioAFMThe HydraTM waspicked for its ultra-sensitive revolutionary high Q factor tuningfork feedback in physiological media.  TheHydraTM is ideal for imagingultrasoft biological material from cells to tissue tobiomolecules even with probes such as those for near-fieldoptical microscopy that have been prevented for use in biology dueto high force constants.  This extends to other categories ofnormal force sensing probes such as those for thermal conductivityor scanning ion conductance microscopy, a special interest of theLagoudakis group.

The HydraTM with itsnon-optically interfering tuning fork feedback allows for fullintegration with all forms of far-field optical imaging.  Thisincludes upright and dual 4 Pi non-linear optical microcopies evenwith water immersion objectives as seen above.

The unique ability to combine such functional probes fromNanonics' NanoToolKitTM  withwater immersion objectives and AFM on-line, offers exceptionalelasticity and adhesion imaging, another unique feature of thesystem.  Further, the integration of the system with alloptical microscopy and micro spectroscopy systems such as Raman, signals new frontiers in this next evolution of scanned probeimaging.

The second simultaneous installation took place at theOptoelectronics Research Center of Professor DanHewak wherethe Optometronic 4000TM Multi ProbeNSOM System will be used for the exploration ofOptoElectronic devices.  This one of a kindfour probe system provides an arsenal of tools forresearching with multiple probes injection and diffusion of heat, injection and collection of light, multiprobe current flow, etc.

Nanonics is proud to have provided these forefront researchgroups capabilities unachievable with any other scanned probemicroscopy platform.
